Mission: Shore Leave: Earth
Location: Sol Station, Dayroom 86
Timeline: Shore Leave Day One

The svelte athletically inclined youth touched her dark pixie cut locks, pushing a stray bang out of the way as she nervously ran through the speech she’d been working on for the last day. She had to keep herself from running as she stepped off the lift and made her way through the busy corridor to the day room she’d booked last week as one of her first instances of initiative to get the Valiant's, and Commander Tyree’s, visit to Sol system off on the right foot.

She entered the room and paused, looking around to make sure the preparations she’d initiated had all been taken care of, then she moved to personally arrange the flowers, food and beverages that she (SHE!!!) had ordered shuttled up from the Betezoid mission.

Levori’s family had seen that she had been in the best schools of course. And she’d thrown parties. But this was her first meet and greet as an official Starfleet cadet!!

For the next hour she bustled about, making sure everything was just so. In the last five minutes before the officers of the Valiant were due to arrive she fretted over last minute details until a thought struck.

What if no one came??

That was a possibility.

The thought made her freeze as she hadn’t thought of that before. Just be cause she, a mere cadet, had been asked by the console had asked her to take care of this detail, it didn’t mean the crew of the Valiant…any of them…would want to spend precious shore leave hours listening to her presentation about the possibilities and opportunities for shore leave she had come up with, or needed her help in making arrangements for any activities they might want help with.

Biting her lip, she fidgeted with the tailored hem of her collar and pulled at the cuffs. The ice-cream and pastries all stared at her, as did the bottles of wine and champagne.

What if no one came, Levori agonized again, stamping her new boots to keep herself from pacing as she assumed a, if impatient, form of parade rest, watching the door..no they called it a hatch...she had to call it a hatch now…with overly intent dark eyes.

Jayde was the first to arrive. She was curious, and she really had nothing to do right now. She paused inside the doorway and looked around, then nodded to Levori.

Nyx wandered through the hatch a few moments after Jayde, drawn in by the unmistakable combination of pastries, alcohol and somebody trying far too hard to make everything perfect.

She took in the flowers, the carefully arranged food, the bottles waiting to be opened, then finally the young woman standing at parade rest like the entire future of Starfleet hospitality depended on her posture.

Then Nyx noticed the eyes.

Betazoid.

Her grin arrived slowly.

Aw, she’s adorable. Look at her. One crooked napkin away from declaring a diplomatic emergency.

Nyx made absolutely no effort to quiet her thoughts. In fact, she gave them room to stretch.

Do I ask about shuttle racing first, or the places Command specifically told her not to recommend? Maybe somewhere with dancing. And fire. Dancing near fire. Is that a thing here? It should be.

Outwardly, she offered Levori the sweetest smile she owned and wandered over to inspect the pastries.

“Hi. Nyx Calder,” she said, selecting one with great care. “You’re the shore-leave mastermind, right?”

She glanced around again, looking impressed despite herself.

“This is cute. Very organized. Kinda terrifying.” She took a bite, then pointed the remaining half towards Levori. “So, I’m looking for something fun, dangerous enough to become a story, but not so dangerous I have to explain it to the captain afterwards.”

A beat.

Unless the captain’s coming. Then we could probably get away with more.

Nyx’s smile widened.

“Whatcha got?”

As if on cue, Zuub appeared next to Nyx. Was it words, "not so dangerous I have to explain it," that summoned the Andorian. Her antennae leaned forward. In her soft, wispy voice, she asked, Nyx, "You were not planning on leaving me out of whatever you were planning, were you?"

Nyx turned towards her, already grinning.

“Leave you out? Are you kidding?”

She glanced at Zuub’s antennae, then back to her face.

“Course you’re coming. Honestly, I figured you’d hear the word ‘dangerous’ from three rooms away and just appear.”

Her grin widened.

“Which, y’know… you did.”

Being Andorian, Zuub had no ability to smile. However, her antennae twittered delightedly. "I'm not hearing you complaining. Are we going to find something to enhance our knife act?" the Andorian asked. "Or is this going to be something new and fun?"

Nyx’s grin turned slow as she looked Zuub over.

“Complaining? No.” Her eyes flicked to the Andorian’s antennae, then back to her face. “With you, I was thinking of a different kind of noise.”

She let that sit exactly long enough to be understood, then glanced towards Levori before she could enjoy herself too much.

“But later. Our yeoman looks like she’s gonna burst if nobody lets her do the presentation.”

Nyx picked up another pastry and pointed it towards Levori.

“C’mon, Pixie. Give us the good stuff. The places you left off the official list.”

Jayde decided this was a perfect time to get something to eat. She was going to stay out of that particular conversation. It was wrong on so many levels she wasn't even going to think about it.

This, this is what made this assignment even worse for Daynah. Not only did they not explore, and seek out new lives etc... But, they did not even do a lot of the covert undercover things that she did not like. Instead they spent an over abundance of an amount of time in functions, and parties. As if they were simply the poster children of Starfleet. Those thoughts trailed through her mind as she stepped into the Day Room. She may have not wanted to be there, but she had to be there. It was expected of her as the XO of the Valiant.

During her training for the joining she was taught how to make it appear she was happy even when she was not. This was a method for Trill to keep the symbiote's emotions from overtaking you. She employed just such a method in this moment. However, internally Alaryc was laughing and having a grand time. The former Starfleet Captain loved watching people squirm during functions such as this. Rather than talk to anyone in the moment she made her way to the bar and ordered a sifter of brandy. She knew to get through this she would need a drink or two or perhaps three.

Levori blinked at the onslaught and stopped herself from taking a step back as the Valiants arrived enmass. Glancing at the Andorian and human helmswoman, she made sure to keep on of her fathers favorite sayings from leaking:

~Great space, not that wooly,` in regards to an ancient earthen mastodon and some peoples general behaivor.

Smiling, she said, "Welcome Valiants," she eased as much enthusiasm into the words as she could as she could. "I am Cadet Levori."Setting her shoulders, she looked at...Nyx was her name and said, "I am nervous, Ensign. Shuttle racing I'm not sure of but there is a solar sailing competition being hosted by the Jovians that will start tomorrow. It's their Regatta of the Purple season and they're expecting nearly two thousand ships A great many of them are short their allowable crew and most of them having a clothing optional rule aboard ships that, while frowned on by Sol system but, because it is contained to ships, they can't do anything about. That race circles the solar system for three days before the winners party at the end. Which is held on Europa minor. Betezoid is actually helping host that party, since the only clothing required is a mask."
