Mission:
Avan's Colony
Timeline: Immediately after Rescue Run
As soon as Kat and Amy arrived back at the compound with their lone survivor and parked the cart where it belonged, they carefully carried Kinna inside and found a comfortable place to lay her down. Kat didn't want to do anything more until Zuub could see to her. But she did run a quick scan to make sure the woman was still alive and not in need of emergency treatment.
"Do you want to call the doctor? I'm not sure where she is right now. I'll check in with Bryan Casteel and turn in my suit." She was looking forward to getting out of it, but not breathing the not-so-healthy air. Although the air in the suit wasn't that great, either.
Amy was already stripping off her EV suit, she wanted to get out of it very quickly. "Well, I hope he won't be mad at the condition of the suit, I damaged it a bit when I came down the rope." She draped the suit over her arm to hand to Katya. She paused remembering that she had her tricorder in one of the pockets, and also needed the information that had been recorded. "I'll call Zuub and let her know we're here."
She tapped on her combadge. "Zuub, we've got a patient here for your needed attention."
=^= Where exactly is here? =^= the Doctor returned on the comm, her voice so soft that it could be barely heard over the comm. =^= How serious is the patient's condition? =^=
"We're back at the Colony, but things seem to be a bit quiet around here." Amy looking around, noticing the area devoid of movement. "As for our patient, she is stable but definitely needs attention." having stepped over to look at Kinna once more. She also used the tricorder to see if there was anyone, wanting to make certain that her 'feeling' was verified. In her line of work there was always a sense of beings being around and when there isn't anything, there was a sense of nothing. She didn't need to be a telepath to have that sense.
=^= Can you describe the symptoms? My guess is your patient is suffering from the same thing of the people I found dying but I would like confirmation. I currently have them all in a shuttlebay being treated with an oxygen rich atmosphere. =^=
"Actually, the miner had crashed back on the way to the mine, so there are burns and also probably suffering from the same issues. Uh. you're at the ship?" Amy responded.
=^= Yes. I think that I mentioned that. It seems that the Cardassian systems were programmed not to recognize this particular ailment. =^= Zuub answered
Kat just shook her head at the conversation and replaced the suits. They would definitely need a good cleaning as well as some repairs. If she had any credits on her, she'd leave them to help pay for replacements, but she would have to hope that saving one person and bringing back word of what happened at the mine would be sufficient. Or maybe the work they did to help clean the filtration system would.
She did a quick search of the maintenance area, then headed back. On her way, she coughed--probably from the smoke that lingered on the suits. "What did the doctor say about patients?"
"We need to get to the Adelaide, that is where we need to take Kinna. Zuub has things set up there to help those who are sick, in the cargo bay." Amy raising her hand up to her forehead. "Also lets get some water, I could use some hot chocolate, tea or even some lemon water. Just something to get the taste of that awful water that was in the bottle."
"Casteel must be there, too. There's no one else here," Kat said. "Do you need a drink now, or should we wait until we're back on the ship?" She wouldn't mind a hot shower, clean clothes, and then a drink.
"I really want a shower and some good tasting water and I really could use a drink, minus the antigrav cart. "Amy referring to the last time she was drunk. Giving a wink towards Katya. "Need to get Kinna to the Adelaide we can't use the cart we came back here with.... " Amy looking around.
"Of course not. That one runs on rails," Kat said, heading into a back room where she'd seen an anti-grav cart earlier. She grabbed it and a cover off a stack of boxes. She paused to look at them. Then, because they looked odd, she pulled out her tricorder and scanned them. She'd have a better look later.
She dumped the cloth on the cart and headed back to where Amy waited. "Okay. Let's get her on the cart and get back to the ship."
"Sounds good." Amy replied.
The injured woman was placed upon the cart, Amy commented to Katya. "I think we make a pretty good team, and it is really nice having someone I know has my back. And I have your back as well."
Once they had Kinna secure, Amy gave Zuub a call. "We're our way now."
Kat just nodded. She was more focused on checking Kinna again. At least they were heading back to the ship where the doctor could treat her properly. She wanted to know if Richard took care of the filtration system. And why there were no colonists in this part of the complex. Something odd was going on and she wanted to get back to her room so she could upload the data from her tricorder and compare it to any other scans the ship might have. Puzzles and peculiarities.
But as they made their way back to the Adelaide, both women could hear a number of voices and an occasional shout. Kat slowed so she could focus on the voices. She'd been practicing her telepathy and reaching out to see if she could extend her range a bit. Now seemed a good time to put that training into practice. Anger. Fear. Panic. "The colonists are angry and demanding answers. And help. I think they're near the ship."
A klaxon sounded while a rumble could be heard. The power dimmed and an audible alarm stated. "Damage to landing grid shield generators has caused ninety-five percent of atmosphere in external docking area. Sealing external hatches until containment confirmed. Emergency protocol four now exists for exiting the facility."
"Well, so much for eavesdropping." She checked that no one was nearby, then tapped her combadge. "Kat to Adelaide. Three to beam up." It was definitely time to go. At least they'd get Kinna to the doctor.
"What the heck?" Amy looked in that direction as they drew closer. Several of those near the Adelaide had glanced behind them and noticed Amy, Kat and seeing Kinna on a stretcher.
"What are you doing with Kinna."
"What did you do to her?"
Were some of the questions being thrown towards the two women.
"We-we found her, when we went to go rescue the others." Amy answered.
"Where are the others?" another growled while heated murmurs rippled through those gathered.
Amy jumped when the Klaxon sounded, which made the crowd jump as well. That klaxon was rather jarring, and Amy was rather glad when it sounded. it giving some pause.
"We're taking her to a doctor, if you'll just back off and give us room," Kat said, her voice rising above the questions. "There was an eruption at the mine. You can't go back there." She hoped to get them to keep far enough away to not be caught in the transporter beam. The last thing they needed was to bring hostile colonists onto the Adelaide. But then the transporter activated, enfolding the three of them in its sparkling light.
Two of the colonists ran toward them, but they were too late. A moment later, they materialized on the ship. "Good timing. Thanks,"
Then Kat said turned to Amy. "Let's get her to Zuub. I need a shower before I do anything else."
Amy nodded as they headed towards where Zuub was at. "I am looking forward to getting into some clean clothing." her stomach growled loudly. "Oh, and definitely food, glorious food"
