Mission:
On the Trail
Location: Various
Timeline: MD002/DS5
Biv stared at the transporter log, tracing pathways, his jaw tightening and facial features icy as he ran through things again. He was currently in a small work room adjacent to the bay where the Valiant was currently pulled apart.
Literally. Biv had drawn the short straw for liberty since the Commander, whom he noticed had taken all of the senior staff on some hush hush mission, and left the enlisted work bees to do the work.
And now Biv was biting at his lip and decided he needed to share this… And more importantly, get a second set of eyes on. Trying to avoid biting through his tongue, he activated the comm and said, “Biv to Lieutenant Tarik. If you have a moment ma’am and haven’t left for the station, could you join me in work shop T2A?? It’s kinda important.”
"No. I'm still here," Pri said. "I'll be right there." She'd been using her time to follow the recent events on the station which were odd to say the least. She saved where she left off reading and headed to the workshop. As she was technically off-duty, she wasn't in her uniform. Instead, she'd chosen to wear a pair of faded jeans and a metallic black silk shirt.
Two minutes later, she walked into work shop T2A?? and went over to Biv. "Mr. Th'shrolneq, how may I be of assistance?"
Biv rechecked the data for the hundredth time even as he winced slightly at the Intel officer's mis-pronunciation of his last name.
Officers.
"So. You're aware of the problems happening DS5. They're transporters went wonky at around zero-five fifteen local time? I thought I'd review that and that took me down a rabbit hole, all the way back to this."
He brought up a series of log entries and said, "Per SOP, all cargo was transported from Valiant to the station just before we switched to shore power. That transporter log traces into the computers on the station and then splinters into related systems...Ma'am. I think maybe the bugs in their transporter came from us..."
Prianka quickly skimmed over the logs, then swore in Narenian Street Cant. A language that, fortunately, was unknown to the main computer. "What, exactly, did she transport? Do you have a record of what she was doing and why?" Part of her wanted to run to sickbay and see if there was any evidence lying around, but first, she wanted to see what else Biv found.
Tapping the log entry, the transporter specialist traced the line that opened, reciting, "Three laboratory samples." Then he scowled and used his own expletives. "In Andorian," he said, shaking his head. "The notes on the contents reads: None of your business. You probably couldn't understand anyway."
That Zuub was a fellow Andorian didn't make her any less of a pain in the behind.
At that moment Luna had arrived, raising an eyebrow as to what she had barely heard. "Lab samples? I had noticed something strange in the records of the ship, and came to check things out. What is going on?" She had the scent of cedar wood, and she was dressed in a pair of blue knee length shorts, and a light blue tee shirt, wearing a pair of runners.
"I think," Biv said gloomily, "I was just about to get arrested."
"No. You aren't responsible for what she transported. But if what I was just reading is true, this is bad. Very bad. And it's all the doctor's fault," Prianka commented.
Luna checked through what she had read. "Oh--Zuub." She gave a little bit of a grimace. "She is rather--I have no words right now." she looked at Biv. "And I agree with Prianka you will not be arrested. It isn't your fault!"
Snorting dismissively, Biv said, "Yet. But regardless, the question is what do we do about it? It might not be the doctor's fault directly. But the Captain said all this was supposed to be on the down low."
"First, we need to assess the damage. If the station figures out what to do with that stuff, we may not have to do anything. If we have to, we can send the data covertly to their intel officer. It can be routed through an external source so it won't be traced back to us. At the same time, we should probably make sure this gets in the hands of someone who can archive it in case it shows up somewhere else." Pri paused. "I can do some digging and see what I find. I've heard of something--or someone--but I want to look into it first."
Biv sifted through more of the data and said, "It survived a transport with all of the protocols. I didn't know either of those substances...the glitter and purple stuff could do that. That's the bigger question I suppose. Which also means I have to lock down Valiant's transporters to preserve the buffer records going forward. The yard isn't going to be able to get close to them."
"I know someone who might be able to help out. She's on this station and she is in security, if that will help out matters to keep things quiet. " Luna stated.
"Gonna need an officer to make that call," Biv remarked. "I'm just a foolish transport tech." Then he looked at Prianka innocently . "Don't you think, Lieutenant?"
Prianka chuckled. "Yeah, I'll take responsibility. But I don't think we should go to security. I've been looking at the personnel records along with the glittery animals. Did you know that the former first officer of the Valiant his here? But he's not who I'm thinking of for this. The commodore was once in intel. I think we should go straight to her. She can decide who else to tell. But since she's the head of the station and knows how to keep a confidence, she might be the best person to start with."
Biv shrugged at that and said, "I'd forgotten about Commander Thibideaux. You might ask him for an introduction. As an old Valiant he might could keep a meeting request off the books... Especially keeping my name out of this. We Andorian's look alike I'm told and I'm not going to catch a reprimand for that twitchy-witch." This last was said just above a murmur, as if more to himself than anyone else in the compartment.
"Me?" Prianka shook her head. "I just looked through the files. But I can be the one to make a request so your name doesn't show up anywhere."
Biv looked over to the security officer and said, "What's your thoughts Luna?"
Luna was having a good look at Biv, Andorians do not look alike.
"First off, Andorians don't all look alike" Luna said with firmness, "second of all I will agree that we do need to find someone who can keep this on the downlow. We really don't want to tip everyone about what had happened. Would cause some widespread panic, and also would blow our cover. Yes get in touch with those above to get some advice and help. And be wary about a Lieutenant Jali Andloch, that woman is a veritable hound dog when it comes to investigating something. "
She cracked a smile, "And once again I will agree that the person that has more pull than what we have, needs to be brought in and informed."
"So, we go to the top and avoid security," Pri concluded. "That way, I don't have to put in extra work creating a false trail for this Andloch." Or anyone else. Most security she'd worked with could be far too sloppy.
Luna nodded in agreement, she hoped that Jali didn't catch wind of this, if so there would be some fancy footwork to cover things up.
